Villain Origin Story

Villain Origin Story
 by Hibah Shabkhez
The flower does not like
Being my metaphor—
It wilts to strike
Me through the heart:

In the dark of the night
It wants to haunt my dreams;
But cannot blight,
Only flourish—

Only grow. So it blooms
Instead. Its tendrils shoot
Through veins, blood booms
In my ears, and

The flower laughs, knowing
It will kill me.
